First Aid course in Gordonton

A first aid course for community groups is being held in Gordonton later this month.

NZ Red CrossSue Shepherd from the Oaks Christian Centre says the course facilitators are from the NZ Red Cross, and have many years’ experience.

“It’s the first time Oaks has hosted a First Aid Course and we’re hoping people will take advantage of the opportunity to gain first aid knowledge, especially at such a low fee.”

Supported by a grant from Gordonton Country Market, there are two courses offered –

Comprehensive First Aid, 1 ½ days, $100, includes GST.
“A popular course and great for keeping you and the team safe in the community,” says NZ Red Cross.

It will cover –

•assessment of emergency situations
• adult, child and infant resuscitation and choking
• bleeding, shock, fractures, sprains and head injuries
• hypothermia, burns and poisoning
• medical emergencies, including asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
• how to manage complex medical and traumatic emergency care situations

Day 1, 9am – 5pm, Saturday 29 July
Day 2, 9am – 1pm, Saturday 5 August

First Aid Revalidation, 1 day, $65
This is for individuals who have completed a first aid course with any provider.
9am – 5pm, Saturday 29 July

Any course booking for the first 20 people will receive a 50% discount.

The first aid courses will be held at Eastwest College, 21 College Drive, Gordonton.  Attendees will receive a NZ Red Cross first aid certificate.
