Pioneer Fundays at Woodlands tomorrow!

Apr 3rd, 2018 | By | Category: News

Woodlands Estate is holding its second-ever Pioneer Fundays, starting tomorrow.

The first Pioneer Fundays last July was a real blast from the past in the present.  More than 2000 people turned up to admire vintage machinery, pet donkeys, play old style games and hunt for gnomes on the garden trail.

This year’s Fundays is on three days – Tuesday 17 April to Thursday 19 – from 10am to 2pm, will include all of that and more, says Woodlands manager Kirstie Alley.

The Vintage Machinery Club will be back, as will the Awapuni donkeys (no rides this year) and alpacas – with some young ones – from Cornerstone Alpacas.  There will also be a coconut shy and Victorian Amusements with Lord and Lady Black, and other events such as egg painting being lined up.

Kirstie says Woodlands is keen to hold regular events.

“As the wedding season draws to an end, we have more time to focus on other things.  We want to hold regular events at Woodlands, such as seasonal markets, festivals, fairs, open weekends – all sorts of ideas are being investigated, we’re really looking forward to it.”

Here are some pictorial highlights from last year’s event.

Lord & Lady Black, Number 8 Network’s Annette Taylor and David Riddell, were kept busy with a range of Victorian games over the three days.  And they’ll be back again tomorrow.
