Young artist’s solo exhibition

Sian Bartley

Three cheers for young artist Sian Bartley.  The eight-year-old Gordonton School pupil is holding her first solo exhibition next month, and only began painting recently.

In March she began working with artists Raymond Jennings and Joanne Clarke, taking their Art Workshop program.

Joanne Clarke says the weekly sessions are designed to spark and enrich imagination.

“Sian was encouraged in a form of creative visual self-expression, empowering her to do new and unexpected things with outstanding results.”

Raymond Jennings says Sian has exceptional talent. ” She is producing some very strong work. Just getting started – she is on her way.”

The title for the exhibition came from a discussion on using the last of the paint, says Joanne.

“I suggested she create an abstract work. We had talked about over-working things previously, so I joked ‘well that’s looking a little over-worked,’ to which she quipped – ‘I’m just getting started!'”

Great stuff! And do keep showing us more work from the Art Workshop programme – this looks like a really exciting project.
