Planting party at Pukemokemoke

More than 150 holes have been dug, and 750 plants ordered for a plantathon at Pukemokemoke Reserve.

The day is set for Saturday July 21, from 9am until “it’s all over,” says Warwick Silvester.

The plan is to plant a protective ring of native species around all the tree groups that have been exposed and to fill in some gaps. Larger tree species will be planted among the established plantings.

“We would greatly appreciate a big turnout with spades on the day.”

And – if the weather looks half decent, there’s the possibility of a BBQ lunch for willing workers.
