Little kitty was tormenting a red headed snake. Before I could offer advice (Oh no, don’t do that!) the snake struck the cat on the face. Kitty jumped in the air and yelped in Thai before scampering into the bushes.
We’d been wandering around in jandals all day – this was a reminder that a little more care should be taken. This is not the Waikato, Dr Ropata.
As we continued to our bungalow tiny firefires danced past us, flashing on and off. A huge honking gecko scuttled behind a billboard. Earlier in the day we walked along the beach and saw mudskippers, apparently confused because they were on rocks. Washing hung among the ruins of a tsunami-ravaged house squatters had moved into. Another reminder we were far from home.
