Zealong Tea Estate in Gordonton is taking on the design world, with their retail shop, The Vista, having been shortlisted for the Germany-based 2018 Euroshop Retail Design Award.

The Vista was one of 85 entries from 27 different countries competing for the award, which is presented to the top three store concepts worldwide. Zealong joins the likes of the Adidas Store in Milan, Italy, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art Design Store, in the award’s shortlist.

Opened in 2016, The Vista is the visitor centre and function facility at the tea estate, with a retail shop showcasing Zealong’s premium certified organic teas.

Zealong general manager Gigi Crawford said the company was thrilled to have this recognition by world-leading retail design experts, especially as the store interior was designed in-house by their own team.

“…we are passionate about producing tea to the highest standard, and our aim was to create a facility to match that passion, as well as to put Waikato on the map as a world-class tea producer and visitor destination.”

“Making the shortlist for these awards has been really encouraging for our team, who put a lot of their own creative effort into the store concept.”

This is not the company’s first foray into the world of international awards, with their New Zealand-grown Green, Oolong, and Black tea all collecting top honours at last year’s Global Tea Championships, as well receiving Natural and Organic Beverage Awards in London and Hong Kong, and a Great Taste award in London.

The three winners of the Euroshop Retail Design Award will be announced at a ceremony in Shanghai on April 26th.
