Chill out with a massage at Fieldays

MassageFarmers visiting the National Agriculture Fieldays at Mystery Creek this week are being encouraged to chill out, with free onsite massages offered by Jane Harris Massage Therapy Clinic.

The service is part of the rural wellbeing initiative’s theme this year of encouraging farmers to take a break.

“Having grown up on a farm I know first-hand how hard farming is on the body. There’s a perception among farmers that massage isn’t for them. That couldn’t be further from reality – massage is, in effect, remedial treatment and can help greatly with all sorts of aches,” Harris says.

Other activities on the site include Mindball – a game that teaches mental relaxation; and a wall where farmers can write what they do to relax. The service can be found at the Farmstrong site (E34).

“Speaking with farmers has backed up our research which shows that farmers and growers want more information and advice on how to switch off from the day to day activities of farming,” says Farmstrong’s Gerard Vaughan.
