Kaka party at Woodlands

Kaka are not common away from the big forest areas but a few visit the Waikato countryside every winter.

Three have been resident at Woodlands for the last couple of months or so, and today N8N went on a kaka hunt.

All three were feeding together not far from the homestead.  Rather close to the cafe, as the kaka flies…

Awesome! Exciting to have them in our countryside and not just in relatively remote reserves like Maungatautari.

Good on the kaka! I have a special connection – as a wee lad I was a boy scout . . . and a member of my troop’s kaka patrol!
