Badminton on offer for kids

Kids will get a chance to hit the shuttlecocks when special classes start later this month with the Horsham Downs Badminton Club.

The Junior Club starts on the first Friday of term 2 (Friday 27 April) and coaching will be provided for all primary school-age children, says treasurer Lesley Dawson.

The session starts for the younger group at 6pm and goes until 7:15pm.  The older children’s session runs from 7:15pm to 9pm.

Costs: $30/child or $50/family for school terms two and three.

“We’d love to see you there with your children,” she says.

The club has started the season with a hiss and a roar, but now is looking for more players on our Monday nights on a regular basis.

“Twenty to 24 people would be ideal, we’d love to have some more beginners ‘hanging in’. The first night is free (if you haven’t been this season yet) and details on costs are readily provided should you decide to join on a regular or casual basis.”

The club has trained coaches prepared to teach the sport, racquets can be borrowed and shuttles are provided.

“All abilities and agilities welcome, all that is needed is a willing heart to give it a go –  it’s a fun, social activity which keeps us fit, young and agile.”
