Bags for Africa on their way

Plenty of bags for Africa...
Plenty of bags for Africa…

One hundred and seventy fabric bags are on their way to Africa, all ironed and looking fabulous, says ESOL tutor Gayle Pearson.

The bags will be used by school children living in a rural village in Malawi, Africa. Some pens and pencils have been thrown in, as well.  The call for help sewing the bags was answered by many keen folk in the Waikato.

“So many people offered their skills and time, it was very exciting and we easily made the target.”

The bags travelled first class, with the mother of Abby Fisher, who is teaching English to the young students who had been sharing just one school bag between them.

“This meant all the books went home with one student, making it hard for the others to do their homework. These fabric bags, sewn by generous individuals, will help make a difference.”

Just in – feedback from Abby who is utterly delighted:

“I’m so happy to receive your message and bags. I know the students will be so, so happy and pleased with the gifts and they will just add a bit more pride in their pursuit for education, so thank you and everyone who has helped for your amazing efforts, they are received with so much gratitude. I cannot wait to get back to Malawi to give them to the students!

“I cannot thank you enough, it sounds like everyone really got together and that is such a cool thing to see!”

Thanks once again to all who put their hand up – a brilliant result!

Thanks, N8N for your part in bringing so many generous people in contact with me. Abby is looking forward to distributing the bags soon. Gayle P
