Osborne Rd bike ride in gear

Julie Roe is once again looking for keen young ‘uns to accompany her on a morning’s bike ride – the day is set for Tuesday 17 April.

The Horsham Downs’ resident – who is absolutely passionate about cycling – says it will be all on if the weather’s good.  (If raining cats and dogs, Thursday 19 is a fall back day.)

“I’d like to gather up a group of 5 to10-year-olds, and we’ll just head off en masse down the [Osborne Rd] track.  Younger ones in bike seats are fine, and we should be back around lunchtime.”
A fantastic pedalling time was had by all the last time the event was held in October 2011.  Julie, with a few other parents, led a massive cycle attack, and Terene Parker was there, and on her bike with camera in hand.
Julie told N8N before that trip that similar outings were often the thing kids said was the best thing they did in the holidays.
“They just love it. It doesn’t involve lunch, or money, just 20 kids on bikes, and they all think they go really fast, it’s great.”

The troops headed off from Julie’s Osborne Rd home, and biked along the track, down Resolution Drive, over the walking bridge to Callum Brae.  Muffins and ice creams were gobbled at the playground.
“Next Wednesday we’ll be using an off-road route to Callum Brae, we want lots of kids and a few parents too,” Julie says.
