Happy Birthday Number 8 Network!

Osborne the pook is in party mode and has baked a cake for a very special N8N milestone. Marley the office cat thinks it needs more mice.

On a chill June morning in 2011 – one year ago exactly in fact – we posted our first story on this community website.

It was a chirpy little piece about local photographer Claudia Aalderink and her project to record life at Horsham Downs School.

Since then there have been, oh so many stories. And that’s your fault. So many of you are doing great things out there; how can we resist writing about it all.

We’ve had to largely teach ourselves how to run this website, with lashings of help from the stellar Philippa Stevenson of Tamahere Forum.

We’d like to charge our glasses and toast regular contributors history guy Perry Rice and art guy Daniel Mills.
And thanks to you, the readers. You’re why we’re here. Here’s to another awesome year – and keep sending those story ideas our way.

Wow, has it been a year already? A very full year has past since that first, amazing, story.
I wish you all the best for the future and hope you will bring us more exciting news from the region!

Happy Birthday N8N. YOU have done a stellar job creating an engaging community news site. Congratulations. I look forward to another year of sisterly co-operation between our two Waikato sites and neighbourliness between our communities (across the great divide, aka Hamilton).
