Gordonton meets Hobbiton

Christmas came early with the arrival of friends from Orcland – they’d shouted us a private tour of Hobbiton, just down the road from Gordonton, as the eagle flies.

Unlike Bilbo, we were very keen to go on an Adventure, and spent a glorious morning peering into hobbit holes and admiring the fake lichen on rustic fences.  Eric Jackson from Matamata (no relation to Peter, he swears) was our guide, and a fine job he did of it too.  He told tales and allowed us to spend the time to really have a proper look.  When we left he was nipping off home to pick up some champagne flutes – that afternoon there was a proposal of marriage at Bag End.  We do hope she said yes.
