Spring is sprung!

Well, it is down Piako Rd. Sally Stewart sent in this seriously springy photo:

Spring lamb

Harry, above, was born on August 5, one of four to a romney ewe. This darling, she says, is destined to train up as calf club day competitor, then cruise in a paddock with Piako Road calves. Lucky lamb. Harry has a sister down Tenfoot Rd, who will also be competing.

Sally is sure  that spring is just around the corner.  In fact, it is, according to Weatherwatch head analyst Phillip Duncan.

He told the NZ Herald that the sun is rising earlier across New Zealand and many places are already experiencing spring-like conditions.

Since the shortest day (June 21) the South Island and lower North Island have gained over an hour of daylight.

Mr Duncan says the days will lengthen more quickly as the spring equinox approaches in late September – which is when many celebrate the astronomical start of spring.

Harry and his friends know it’s Spring!
