Royals wow rural town

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, almost visited Gordonton, Number 8 Network’s Annette Taylor believes.

Instead, probably due to an error with their GPS, they made an unscheduled visit in Tamahere. Luckily, our sister website Tamahere Forum’s Philippa Stevenson was on hand.  She put down her coffee, bolted out the door and got some fantastic photographs.

The Royal couple went on walkabout around Tamahere School, as they had a rendezvous after coming from different points in the Waikato that day.   “And they totally charmed the crowd, adults and children alike,” says Philippa.

Number 8 Network is only a little bit envious.   Congratulations to Tamahere – showing the Royals that our small towns rock.
