Proposal to block Osborne Road: NZTA

Proposals to connect Horsham Downs and Resolution Drive to the Hamilton section of the Waikato Expressway have been discussed at a public meeting recently.

The proposed changes would see Resolution Drive extended to meet and cross the new section of expressway to link with Horsham Downs Road. The Transport Agency is also proposing to stop Osborne Road on either side of the expressway and provide alternative walking and cycling connections, in consultation with the Horsham Downs community.

Representatives from the NZ Transport Agency, Waikato District Council and Hamilton City Council attended the meeting in the Horsham Downs Community Hall last Thursday.

The proposal to stop Osborne Road and extend Resolution Drive to the expressway and across to Horsham Downs road is subject to the designation process which will be publically notified, the NZTA said in a media release.

The Transport Agency’s Waikato highway manager Kaye Clark said the agency will be seeking feedback on proposed walking and cycling facilities in the area.

“The Transport Agency has worked closely with Hamilton City Council, Waikato District Council and Tainui Group Holdings to make sure that the expressway connects to the local road network in a way that supports planned growth and development while also keeping communities linked.”
