Good sign for Horsham Downs
Eagle eyed photographer Claudia Aalderink sent in this photograph of a new sign on Horsham Downs Rd.
“It just popped up one day, which is a good thing,” says Claudia, who is delighted to see it.
In September her car ran off the road and she has been concerned about future accidents.
“The farmer who owns the land told me I’m number 17 since 1996.”
The trouble spot is on a corner, travelling north past Bankier Rd, with Lake D ahead. It is deceptive and took her completely by surprise.
“I had just dropped my daughter off at school and was returning home. It’s just a slight curve, near the corner. I wasn’t going fast, it was a bit drizzly so I was travelling at about 80km but it’s a 100km area.
“The next thing I knew, the car had flipped down the bank and landed in a paddock, facing the other direction. Milk tankers drive this road all the time. If a tanker had been coming round the corner, I would have hit it.”
Hopefully the new sign will prevent any future accidents.
