Celebrations at Woodlands

The champagne flowed at Woodlands Cafe last night. There were a few things to celebrate, including the construction of the new Gavin Grain Pavilion.

Work started on the new addition in September, and it will be the perfect place to watch cricket games from, says cafe owner Judy Cole.

“We’ve had ongoing extenstions to the cafe, and now this. It’s going to be a great summer.”

Workers include long-serving volunteer Roger Jennings and new Woodlands board members Andrew Harward and Stu Gaylor.

And then there was the small matter of husband Rod Wise’s Queen’s Service Medal which was granted in June.

“This was in recognition of his community work, and we needed to celebrate that. Tonight was perfect for a double celebration,” says Judy who spent some time plotting the event.
