Rototuna Market off to flying start

The new Rototuna Market went live on Sunday. Claudia Aalderink was there and having a grand time.

The excitement had been present for weeks. As a stallholder myself I had talked to my fellow market buddies and we were all looking forward to this new addition of market life.

Some of us had braved the Tamahere market the day before and today could, weather-wise, only be better. In three time slots we were all arriving early in the morning. Organiser Catherine Cookson was running a tight ship and with success – we soon had all found our spots and the market started to take shape.

Luckily the rain held off while we were setting up. New stallholders looking a bit lost and confused setting up gazebos but soon the market spirit jumped into gear and everyone helped each other.
It turned out to be a beautiful day with some puddles, some showers and some glorious sunshine. There were plenty of goods to enjoy, taste and indulge in.

The craft areas followed by the food and drinks gave the market a good flow and people were enjoying the day. Handcrafted cushions, toddler couture, vintage goods, screen-printed tea towels, handmade jewellery, lavender goodies, mystical potions, yummy pancakes, fudge, sausages – there were even high-vis vests for dogs!

The first market was a success for everyone and we’re all looking forward to the next one on Sunday 19 October, from 10 am – 2 pm.
